Filter Press

The filter press manufactured by Ptech GmbH performs the dewatering process by filtering the solid-liquid sludge mixture through filter cloths fitted onto the filter press plates. Solid particles accumulate between the plates, while liquids are removed from the equipment by means of drainage.

Working Principle;

Filter cloth to be used in filter press equipment is selected according to the physio-chemical properties of the filtered solid-liquid mixture can be made from polypropylene, cotton, shredded fiber or other materials. High-pressure pumps that feed materials to the filter press can be selected from diaphgram and mono pumps.

In terms of sludge dewatering ratio of filter press equipments, they work in much higher efficiency. Sludge is pumped to the plates from slugde inlet by means of a pump. Slowly solidified sludge cakes are formed in the plates. Empty spaces between the plates slowly start to close out. Plates start squeezing when 7-8 bar max. is reached. Discharging the cakes can be designed according the customer preferences as automatic or manual.

Filter press cloths (filtering cloth) play an important role in the filtering process. For this reason, selection of the cloth should be designed appropriately to the related industry. They need to be washed with pressurized water in certain intervals to extend the expected lifetime of the filter press cloths.
