Channel-Type Penstock Cover
A penstock is a type of valve commonly used to control the flow and direction of water in treatment plants and other facilities. It consists of a gate that operates on a vertical axis, which can be actuated either manually or via an actuator.
The penstock is controlled through a mechanically operated shaft, which can also be automatically actuated by an actuator. This automatic operation can be triggered when certain preset levels are reached, eliminating the need for human intervention. Penstock covers can also be made leak-proof on all four sides—an advantage that stoplogs cannot offer.
At Ptech GmbH, we manufacture our penstock covers using only high-quality stainless steel in grades AISI 304, AISI 316, or AISI 316L. Depending on the size of the penstock, we select the most appropriate sealing solution to meet specific sealing requirements. We use premium-grade NBR nitrile rubber as the sealing material, which offers excellent resistance to wear and corrosion in wastewater environments. The structural design of the gasket further ensures a long service life.
The penstock cover can be mounted on a surface using bolts or installed within a channel using joint filling.
