Wall-Type Penstock Cover

It is a type of valve commonly used to control the flow of water and determine the direction of flow in plants. A penstock cover consists of gate that operate on a vertical axis, which can be actuated manually or by means of an actuator.

The penstock cover is controlled by a mechanically operated shaft. The shaft can be automatically actuated using an actuator. This can be triggered when specific set levels are reached, ruling out the need for any human interaction. Penstocks covers can also be made leak-proof on all four sides, which is something stoplogs are incapable of.

For the covers we manufacture as Ptech GmbH, we are using only high-quality stainless steel as material, grade AISI 304 or AISI 316 / AISI 316L. Depending on the size of the penstock, we select the most suitable sealing solution to meet the sealing requirements. We use high-grade NBR nitrile rubber as the sealing material, which has high resistance to wear and tear in corrosive wastewater. Additionally, the structural shape of it also guarantees maximum service life of the gasket. The penstock cover can be mounted to the surface with bolts or installed in a channel with joint filling.
